Short weekend.. I visited my college roomate on Saturday at her place of business: Sargents Nursery and Garden Center in Red Wing, MN where they hosted the first annual "Girlfriend's Day Out"
15 vendors took part in the one day expo event with booths offering food, beverages and wine samplings along with jewelry, books, home decor & more.
I thought it clever for the Garden Center to host such an event when normally during this time of years sales are slow. Saturday was beautiful with sun shining down into the large greenhouse room where the expo was housed.
Sargents used this Girls day out to also call attention to their 80th anniversay. Clever marekting and a great opprotunity to bring prospective customers in to their store during the off-season.
And to finish the day off, I drove back to Durand through Wabasha, MN and noticed some young kids skating on an outdoor rink, I just happened to have my skates with me! I spent the remainder of the afternoon etching patterns into the ice for the young group of skaters who repeatedly asked me to 'do that again' as I performed spins and edges to their delight, mine too of course.
